What Zonic provides

Zonic analyses footage you supply and produces scene understanding, transcripts, editing plans, sequences, and export files. It is an assistive tool: it proposes, and you decide.

Some work runs in our cloud and some runs locally on your own machine, depending on how a project is configured. Where your material physically travels differs between the two, and the Privacy Policy describes each.

Paid, free, and pilot engagements

Zonic is offered as a paid service and, in some cases, as a free evaluation, pilot, or proof of concept. Where we agree to work on your footage at no charge, the scope, the deliverables, and the timeline are agreed in writing before you transfer any material. If there is no written scope, there is no engagement.

Working with us at no charge changes nothing about ownership. Your footage remains yours, the deliverables are yours, and a free engagement grants us no licence beyond doing the work you asked for.

The material you supply

You keep ownership of everything you upload. We claim no rights in your footage, audio, transcripts, or documents beyond what is needed to run the service for you.

You are responsible for holding the rights to that material, and for the consents of the people who appear in it. Interview subjects, performers, and bystanders have rights in their likeness and their voice. Zonic cannot verify those consents and does not obtain them on your behalf.

You may not use the service for illegal, infringing, or abusive purposes.

The finished edit

Sequences, rough cuts, exported project files, and rendered videos made from your footage are yours. You may use, publish, modify, and relicense them freely, without further permission from us and without crediting Zonic.

One thing to check before release: if an edit uses an asset we supplied rather than your own — most often a track from Zonic's shared music bank — that asset carries its own licence, which is not ours to assign to you. Before broadcast or commercial distribution, either confirm the clearance with us in writing or replace it with music you have licensed yourself.

Demos, case studies, and publicity

We will not use your footage, your finished edit, your project, your company name, or your logo as a demonstration, case study, exhibition piece, conference talk, or marketing material without your specific prior written consent.

That consent is per use, not once and for all. Agreeing that we may show a clip at one event is not agreement to publish it online, and we will ask again for a different context. You may withdraw consent for future use at any time, though we cannot recall something already broadcast or printed.

AI-generated output

Zonic's analysis and suggestions are produced by AI models and can be wrong. Scene descriptions, transcripts, translations, and face or speaker groupings may contain errors, and an edit plan can misread the intent of a scene.

Review output before you publish it or rely on it. This matters most for transcripts and subtitles of interviews, where an error changes what a person appears to have said.

Changes and availability

The product is under active development, and we may add, change, or withdraw features. We will give notice of material changes to these terms; continued use after a change means you accept it.

Except where a separate signed agreement says otherwise, the service is provided as is, without warranties, to the maximum extent the law allows. Specific availability, support, and recovery commitments belong in a written service agreement — see the Security and Data Handling statement.
